Kathy Sizemore for Temecula City Council

District 3

Temecula is a beautiful place to live. It’s been a fantastic community for my husband and I to raise our family in. I’m running for Temecula City Council, representing District 3, to help ensure that Temecula continues to be a safe, prosperous, and diverse community for future generations. Temecula is not the same city it was when it incorporated in 1989 or even ten years ago. Our city has grown, our population has increased, and the problems and concerns of residents today are much different than those of years past. Temecula needs proven leaders dedicated to our city’s future that understand firsthand the challenges today’s families face. I’m a wife, a mom, a business owner, a city commissioner, and a volunteer leader in our community. Temecula is my hometown. I will work to be a voice for all residents of District 3.

QUALITY OF LIFE

I will pursue and support:

  • Policies that encourage a diverse mixture of recreational, shopping, and entertainment activities for our residents
  • Policies for accessible sports facilities, parks and recreation areas, programs and amenities for all individuals
  • Funding of community activities and events which maintain our city’s traditions

FISCAL CONSERVATISM

I will pursue and support:

  • Maintaining Temecula’s long standing tradition of having a balanced budget and being fiscally conservative with our cities funds.
  • Protecting our city’s financial reserves, paying off our debt’s early, and establishing a debt free budget

FAMILY FOCUSED COMMUNITY WITH A SMALL-TOWN FEEL

“Our city has a longstanding tradition of our resident’s dedication to family and community. As a 25-year resident, it’s one of the things I treasure most about my hometown, and I will work to preserve it for future generations. Our residents often talk about the “small-town” feel our city has. We’re a city dedicated to doing it right the first time and pursuing the highest quality of life for our residents. That’s the “Temecula Way”, and it’s worth protecting.”

  • Prioritizing redevelopment of the Jefferson Corridor and the Uptown District
  • Regional collaboration in tackling congestion on the I15 traffic corridor

BUILDING ON OUR PAST, WITH A VISION FOR OUR FUTURE

After graduating from college, too many Temecula young adults don’t want to return home to the city where they grew up and where their family continues to live. Why? I often hear from these young adults that it’s the lack of affordable housing and local employment options. These Temecula-grown adults saw their parents commuting for work outside of our region for their whole childhood. They experienced firsthand the impact on a family’s quality of life that commuting causes, and they don’t want that for themselves or their future family. We must do better—building upon our city’s past to create a vision for our city’s future. A future our youngest residents will be proud to inherit.
